Emergency Food & Shelter Program (2010)

United Way of Pueblo County administers the funds on behalf of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.  Phase 28 funds were awarded by EFSP Monday, January 25, 2010.  Pueblo County was awarded $88,921.00 to help fight hunger and homelessness.

Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government with the capability to supplement and extend existing emergency food and shelter services, 2) have an accounting system and comply with program responsibilities and requirements, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.  Qualifying organizations are urged to apply.

United Way Community Impact Grant (2009-2010)

Special grant funds made available by United Way of Pueblo County Board of Trustees to any nonprofit in Pueblo County meeting a critical community need not currently funded by United Way.  Programs that qualify should address a pressing, unmet human service need in Pueblo county.  Grant(s) are intended as one-time only special program grants that help to launch a new program or venture, or that will substantially strengthen an existing program not currently funded by United Way.  Grant(s) will be awarded to the program that can demonstrate a significant, measurable impact on the community.  Both current United Way partner agencies and any nonprofit agency with a 501(c)3 IRS designation may apply.  Grant is intended as a one-time special project grant only.  Therefore, United Way funding is short term. The range of grant(s) is $5,000 - $25,000 for the 2009 funding year.

United Way- Community Problem Solving Grant (2009 - 2010)

This endowment fund was established by the El Pomar Foundation to address critical and emergency needs for the homeless and indigent in Pueblo County.  Funds are distributed annually to nonprofit, human service agencies that directly address the needs of the community in the following areas: direct service to the homeless population, direct assistance to the indigent including transportation, food, clothing, utility and rent assistance, medical prescriptions, and related supplies.  Grant funds are strictly for direct service only.
