Pacesetters Help United Way Campaign

Approximately 40 area organizations run Pacesetter campaigns for United Way's annual fund drive, raising more than $300,000 to benefit local health and humanXcel Energy Logo service programs. This represents approximately 30 percent of UWPC's 2007 $920,000 campaign goal. Some of the 2007 Pacesetter companies include: The Pueblo Chieftain raising $50,000, Xcel Energy -- $93,600, Target Distribution -- $34,000, Aquila --$40,000, Board of Water Works -- $21,000 and US Bank raising over $11,000.

Pacesetter organizations run early United Way campaigns and "set the pace" for other campaigners. To qualify, organizations met specific criteria (such as striving for 100% participation, and surpassing their previous year’s pledges) and report campaign results by early September. Pacesetters go the extra mile, have the complete endorsement of their CEO and company coordinator(s), and promote the benefits of giving back to their community through United Way.

All organizations running Pacesetters campaigns were invited to our Pacesetter Games in July at the Greenway Nature Center and were recognized at our Annual Kickoff Luncheon in September

United Way in the Workplace

You want the community you do business in to be a better place because you are here. You want your employees to feel good about the company they work for. And, you know that a strong community promotes good business.

That's why each year more than 200 companies help change lives in our community by supporting United Way. Why do they support United Way? Because no other organization has the ability to impact such a broad range of needs in such an efficient manner. For more than 80 years United Way has worked with the business community to identify pressing community needs and support the agencies and programs that meet those needs.

Running a United Way campaign is the best way to support our community. We have the experience to help you make the best investment with your corporate dollars, and can work with you to develop an employee campaign that is in line with the values of your organization and your employees.
