The announcement came Tuesday, April 7th at the United Way Annual Meeting, sponsored by Xcel Energy.  Over 200 attended the celebration luncheon at Pueblo Community College.  United Way took the opportunity to recognize the outstanding campaigns that exhibited excellence in volunteerism, in corporate leadership and as campaign coordinators.  The volunteer ambassador awards went to Matt Bailey from Sam's Club and Dean Doyen from Budweiser/Standard Sales.  The corporate leadership awards went to Xcel Energy, Black Hills Energy and Qwest. The three campaign coordinator awards went Board of Water Works--Angie Maestas, Dan Golob, Beverly Trujillo and Dave Montelongo, AT&T--David Osborn and Susie Beery and Xcel Energy--Comanche--Fred Arellano, Dave Edmisson, Ruben Roman, and Steve Maez.

At the meeting United Way was presented with several final checks to help make the campaign total.  Wells Fargo presented a $5,000 check, Qwest presented a $25,000 check and Xcel Energy presented a $132,381.30 check.

Special thanks to Parkview, Trane, and Black Hills Energy for coordinating campaigns exceeding $50,000.  Special thanks to Xcel Energy for coordinating a campaign exceeding $100,000.

We would like to thank out outgoing board members who served six consecutive years on the United Way Board of Trustees, Linda Lowe-Coats and Lou Braden for their support and dedication.  We would like to welcome our newest Board of Trustee members, Cindy Nunez, Shawn Early, and Sandy Romero.

We also would like to thank County Commissioner and 2008 Campaign Chairman, Jeff Chostner for all of his help and dedication to the campaign and continued support of United Way.
