Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Funds Available to Pueblo County Agencies to Fight Hunger and Homelessness
Pueblo, CO - Pueblo County has been chosen to receive $66,656 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. United Way of Pueblo County will administer the funds on behalf of the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program Phase 34 to local organizations meeting the following guidelines.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government with the capability to supplement and extend existing emergency food and shelter services, 2) have an accounting system and comply with program responsibilities and requirements, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board. In addition, individuals in need of assistance may not apply directly for funds; rather, services will be provided through local recipient organizations.
Interested organizations should contact the United Way office at 719-225-8580 for additional information. Applications may be obtained on the United Way of Pueblo County website at www.pueblounitedway.org/grants. The deadline for applications is no later than Friday, June 30 by 12pm, noon. A mandatory meeting for program applicants will be held Thursday, July 6 at 10 a.m. in the second floor conference room at Security Service Federal Credit Union Mt. Carmel Branch building at 310 E.
