Pueblo, CO - Pueblo County has been chosen to receive $80,999 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. United Way of Pueblo County will administer the funds on behalf of the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program Phase 36 to local organizations meeting the following guidelines. This award represents an increase of $21,302 from the previous funding total.
Apply agencies must meet several program requirements listed in the Phase manual and complete an application available at www.pueblounitedway.org/grants. Application deadline is no later than Wednesday, July 10 by 12pm, noon. Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government with the capability to supplement and extend existing emergency food and shelter services, 2) have an accounting system and comply with program responsibilities and requirements, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board. Please note: individuals in need of assistance may not apply directly for funds; rather, services will be provided through area non-profit agencies.

A mandatory meeting for program applicants will be held Monday, July 15 at 11 a.m. in the second floor conference room of the Security Service Federal Credit Union - Mt. Carmel Branch building at 310 E. Abriendo Ave. Emergency Food and Shelter Program dollars are federal funds awarded through the Department of Homeland Security.
